Summer is here and its time to go for a refreshing swim in Lake Jindabyne. The pristine alpine water in Lake Jindabyne is a great place to cool off on a hot day. Lake Jindabyne’s water temperature can vary from month to month, especially after winter when the snow is melting down from the mountains, however, from Dec-March it is perfect for a swim. Claypits
The Claypits is the most popular place to swim at Lake Jindabyne. The large stretch of beach can be accessed by car or on foot and has bathroom facilities nearby. This spot is extremely popular during the summer months for families with boats- the beach is the perfect spot for waterskiing in Lake Jindabyne. This area has a boat ramp and a small car park as you drive in for those not wanting to drive onto the beach. The Claypits is also where the Disc Golf course starts and is a great spot to set up for a day at the lake.
Poh Bay (poo bay)
If you’re looking for a more private area to swim, Poh Bay might be the place for you. Located off Cobbon Crescent, Poh Bay is a smaller beach area with a shallow bay. The beach area here is much smaller than the popular Claypits area and is nearby some of Jindabyne’s mountain bike and walking trails. This protected area of the lake is perfect for stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and swimming. It’s also a great place to take your dog for a swim!

Sailing Club
The Jindabyne Sailing Club is 5 minutes out of Jindabyne toward the Alpine way and is a great spot to soak up the sun. This swimming spot in Jindabyne is a local favourite with multiple little beaches, grassy areas with shade, and a small boat ramp. During summer on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, the members of the sailing club gather to sail their hobie cats and lasers, creating a beautiful scene from the shore.
Rainbow Beach, Tyrolean Village
Rainbow beach is one of the smaller swimming areas in Jindabyne but has incredible mountain views and is dog friendly. This beach can only be accessed by foot so visitors will need to park nearby. To get there, drive into Tyrolean Village in East Jindabyne and take a right into Adams Ave. As you come down the hill, you will see a small gated path that takes you directly to Rainbow Beach. Be sure to shut the gate behind you!
Sandy Beach ,Tyrolean Village
Sandy Beach in Tyrolean Village is a bigger stretch of beach that can only be accessed on foot. This flat stretch of sand is a quiet spot to view the mountains and watch the sunset. You can walk to Sandy Beach from Rainbow Beach or along a walking trail from East Jindabyne.
