Jindy sits on the edge of Lake Jindabyne at the base of the Australian Snowy Mountains, so an Insta-Worthy view is not hard to find. Here are some of the best locations to take your next Instagram pic or Tinder profile photo in Jindabyne.

Gaden Trout Hatchery
Click for map location: 224 Gaden Rd, Jindabyne NSW 2627
The Gaden Trout Hatchery is a 5-minute drive out of Jindabyne. The Hatchery sits along the Thredbo river and its main purpose is to spawn a variety of trout and Atlantic Salmon. You can explore the river around the Hatchery and if you bring your fishing rod, can head up or down the river. During winter, the river is off-limits to anglers to allow the Trout to spawn. As Spring comes around, the giant Poplar trees that grow in the area turn green, and wildflowers are abundant. Our favourite time of year at the Hatchery is Autumn. The poplar trees turn a vibrant orange and their bright leaves litter the ground, perfect for a picturesque picnic in the afternoon!

Wallace Craigie Lookout
8F52+39, Kosciuszko National Park NSW 2627
The half-hour scenic drive down the Barry Way, towards Victoria, will bring you to the Wallace Craigie Lookout. The lookout is easily accessible from the road. It is a great place to stop for a break and also get some photos of the valley. The view of the mountains is covered by gum trees and native flora. The Barry Way turns into a dirt road so be sure to take care when taking this route, this road is not suitable for caravans. Be on the lookout for animals such as kangaroos, wombats, and the odd brumby as these animals frequent the quiet road.

Porcupine Rocks is best visited at sunrise and sunset for the ‘golden hour ‘ shot.
Jindabyne Sailing Club

The Jindabyne Sailing Club is a short drive past the Claypits and towards the Alpine Way. The entrance isn’t very well signed but there is a gap in the guard rail to access the car park. It’s a bumpy driveway so be sure to drive slowly. Once you find a park, you can set up anywhere along the lake for a summer swim or a winter beer by the lake.
Tyrolean Sunset Hill
Sunset Hill, East Jindabyne NSW 2627

This final location is probably the most picturesque spot in Jindy. If you want a shot of Jindabyne from above, this vantage point is the closest thing to a birds-eye view. The Sunset Hill viewpoint is accessed via a steep dirt road about 200m away from the Tyrolean Village turnoff. You can visit this spot any time of the day. However, sunset is the best time to capture portraits and landscape photos.
